About Us
Set up and run by Kay Jennings, Apron Strings is aimed at encouraging children and young people to be interested in good food and learning how to cook.
We offer courses of lessons, cooking parties and school holiday workshops.
Apron Strings ethos is that children learn about fresh ingredients, develop a love of cooking whilst having fun and gain an understanding of nutrition and healthy eating choices.
The
school curriculum allows very little time for cookery or food lessons and
increasingly busy mums have less time at home so Apron Strings workshops and
courses offer children the opportunity to learn cooking skills in a fun and
safe environment.
Children have fun, make new friends and learn a skill for life
We are fully insured, have enhanced CRB checks and have certificates in Food
Hygiene and First Aid
Our sessions are very hands on and they will be encouraged to try food they may never have tried before! Its great when children think they don't like a particular food but once they've cooked with it, change their mind!
7-10 Year olds;
For our junior cooks we offer the chance to get to know a bit more about their food, appreciate where it comes from and encourage them to make informed food choices. They will learn some basic skills and cooking procedures along with the chance to get a bit messy! Clearing up is also part of the experience!
11-16 Year olds;
For our older cooks we help them learn more complex skills and processes. They will be encouraged to use their creativity to tweak recipes and create their own dishes..
All ingredients are included and all equipment, aprons and recipe cards are provided.
